OPEN CALL FOR “SANTA CRUZ DE LA SIERRA” INTERNATIONAL THEATER FESTIVAL 2025

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:

  • The Festival is biannual.
  • It will take place from Friday, May 9 to Sunday, May 18, 2025.
  • The international call is open as of the publication of this document and closes on December 21, 2024.
  • The Festival Organizing Committee will send the official invitation to those selected in January 2025
  • The participating casts must have time available from May 9 to 20, 2025 for the organization to schedule them in the Festival.
  • Groups that were not selected for this version of the Festival will not be contacted. The material of non-selected groups will remain in the possession of the Festival for future communications.

 

OF THE FESTIVAL CONDITIONS:

  • The Festival will agree with each participating group on the possible payment of a cachet for their presentations.
  • The organization does not make any payment to institutions and/or authors for copyright.
  • The organization will cover 25% of the agreed cachet (if there is this payment), in the event that the performance is not carried out due to weather and/or force majeure reasons beyond the control of the organization.

 

OF THE DOCUMENTATION TO SUBMIT:

  • Include a simple declaration that guarantees ownership of the copyright of the work. If the group is not the owner of the play, an authorization from the copyright holder of the work must be presented.

 

OF THE LOCATIONS:

  • City of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
  • Other provinces of the Department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

 

OF THE PARTICIPANTS:

  • Performing arts creations (theater, puppets, dance, contemporary circus, performance, similar disciplines and multidisciplinary shows, etc.) may participate.
  • Theater groups from all over the world will be able to participate. In any theatrical and performing arts genre whose work has been released and presented in theaters until the closing of the call.
  • For the selection, the number of cast members will be taken into account. Preference will be given to casts made up of less than 5 people. People who do not participate in the play cannot be included in the cast list.

 

OF THE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS:

  • In time to receive the official invitation to participate in the Festival, the chosen groups will get information about the venue where they will perform. It will detail the dimensions and technical equipment available.
  • The selected groups must adapt their technical requirements to the venues that the Festival organization has chosen for their performance.
  • Modifications to the technical requirements must be sent by February 5, 2025. Each group is responsible for submitting their requirements to the Festival’s technical managers including the scenographic, sound, lighting, etc. aspects.
  • Any technical request received outside the submission deadline (February 5, 2025) and that has a cost, must be covered by the company or deducted from the group´s cachet.
  • The organization does not provide headset microphones.

 

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORTATION:

LODGING

  • In the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, foreign participants will be provided with accommodation in double and triple rooms; starting one day before their first performance to a day after their last performance.
  • Outside Santa Cruz de la Sierra, foreign participants will be provided with accommodation in double and triple rooms during the day or days of their performances.

 

FEEDING:

  • In the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, APAC will provide foreign participants with food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) according to the lodging dates agreed upon with the organization.
  • In the province, foreign participants will be provided with food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during the day or days of their performances outside Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

 

TRANSPORT:

  • Foreign participants must cover all their expenses from their place of origin to Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia) and their respective return. (Tickets, visas, vaccines, travel and health insurance, etc.)
  • Participants must pay the costs of transporting their scenery, costumes and props. APAC is not responsible for importing or exporting this material.

 

ABOUT ACCREDITATIONS AND ENTRIES:

  • Participants will have one credential per person. The credential does not entitle entry to the performances.
  • Each group must request tickets for the performances until April 30, 2025. After this date, the Festival will not provide tickets to the groups. Tickets will be given according to the venue’s availability.
  • The tickets for foreign groups will be distributed as follows:
    • One complimentary ticket per day for each member of the group, during the days that the cast is in charge of APAC.
    • One discount ticket per artist per day for each member of the group, during the days that the cast is in charge of APAC.
